Our story

Hi, I'm Amanda.

Before I had kids, I'd have told you I knew everything there was to know about women's bodies.

I'd been in fitness since 2003. I'd studied sport science, biomechanics and nutrition, and later counselling and psychology. I'd worked with the Australian swim and cricket teams, worked in oncology care and run my own clinic in Sydney. I'd competed internationally as a bikini athlete. In 2014, Daniel and I moved home to Ireland and started Recalibrated Bodies, coaching people online with their training and nutrition.

Then, in 2018, our first baby arrived, and I realised how little I actually knew.

Nobody could tell me how to train safely while pregnant. At my six-week check, the doctor checked the baby, asked me a couple of vague questions and that was it. No plan for my recovery, no advice on going back to work, and no one asking how I was really feeling.

And I wasn't feeling great. My body didn't feel like mine. My confidence was gone. I was a mum now, and I loved that, but I had no idea where the old me had gone, or if she was coming back.

So I went back to study, again, and trained in pre- and postnatal coaching, pelvic floor health and diastasis recti.

Eighteen months later, our second baby came along. Two kids under two, two home births, three years of breastfeeding, two businesses and no family nearby. My body recovered far better the second time. Getting me back took longer, and it happened in small ways: making time to train again, eating properly, feeling strong, and slowly starting to like what I saw in the mirror.

I figured all of that out the hard way: the guesswork, the lonely appointments, the trial and error, the days I didn't recognise myself. And I don't want any other mum to have to do the same.

That's what Recalibrated Bodies is now. We work with mums at every stage: pregnant, newly postpartum, back at work, or years down the line and still putting themselves last. And we look after more than your body. We help you feel like yourself again.

I've been where you are. It does get better, and you don't have to figure it out on your own.
